MADE SIMPLE

Crop, fit and pad have different effects

An aspect ratio describes the relationship between width and height. A 16:9 landscape image is wide; 9:16 is tall, and 1:1 is square. To change this shape without stretching, choose Crop to fill (edges may be removed) or Pad to exact size (borders are added).

Choose the preset ratio while Crop to fill is active. The live preview shows how the image is cut, including the focal position. To keep the entire photograph without borders, choose Fit; this can change the exact output dimensions.

GOOD TO KNOW

Frequently asked questions

How do I change a JPG to 16:9?

Choose Crop to fill, select 16:9 and inspect the preview. Adjust the crop focal position, then export.

Does changing an aspect ratio always crop?

No. Use Pad to add borders around the original image, or Fit to preserve the full image inside a bounding box.

Can I set a custom ratio?

Yes. Enter the output width and height while the aspect-ratio lock is off.
