PNG is a lossless image format often used for icons, screenshots, and graphics with transparent backgrounds. This tool preserves alpha transparency when saving to PNG, as long as the selected layout does not intentionally add a background.
The PNG encoder does not expose an adjustable lossy quality level, so a target-KB workflow requires JPEG or WebP instead. When the target is too strict for quality changes alone, an optional setting can also reduce pixel dimensions.

Frequently asked questions
Will a resized PNG stay transparent?
Yes, when saving as PNG in Resize, Crop or Fit mode. Pad mode adds the background color you select.
Can I resize PNG without losing quality?
PNG encoding is lossless, but reducing pixel dimensions discards visual information, and increasing them cannot add real detail.
Can I reduce PNG to exactly 100 KB?
Not reliably with lossless PNG encoding. Use the target-size tool with JPG or WebP output, or reduce the dimensions.
